Golf
Golfers are spoilt for choice in Vilamoura. There are six outstanding golf courses within easy reach of the villa, Laguna, Millennium, The Old Course, Pinhal, Victoria, and Vila Sol.
Marina
The 1000 berth marina is the hub of activities in Vilamoura and the marina quay is perfect for a relaxing evening stroll featuring an exciting mix of designer shopping, restaurants, cafés and waterside bars.
The area gets lively at night, with everyone coming to eat out and be seen.
Various activities at the Marina are available including sailing, scuba diving, boat charter, jet ski and bicycle hire. Big game fishing can also be arranged (a boat chartered from Vilamoura in 1993 caught the world’s largest recorded black marlin!).
The Marina also hosts a yacht club and a number of prestigious sailing events take place throughout the year.
Beaches
Stretching out either side of the Marina are two vast sandy beaches, Praia da Marina, (“Vilamoura Beach”) to the east and Praia da Falésia to the west. Overlooked by pine trees decorating the cliff tops, and at over 8 km long, protected by a natural wall of red cliffs 30 metres high, Praia da Falésia beach offers one of the longest stretches of golden sand in Portugal.
Tennis
Located close to the centre of town is the Vilamoura Tennis Centre which has 12 courts (5 of which are floodlit) and coaching available.
Casino
Vilamoura Casino has a traditional gaming room with about 20 tables including Baccarat, Portuguese Dice, French and American roulettes, Blackjack and Poker. For the non gambler there is regular evening entertainment.
Zoomarine at Guia
Located about 30 minutes drive from Vilamoura, Zoomarine is one of the biggest Algarve attractions and it certainly lives up to the hype. Open all year round, the presentations include dolphins, sealions, birds of prey, tropical birds, and a chance to swim with the dolphins. Both fun and educational, you can spend a day at the park with plenty to keep all the family entertained.
Karting
20 minutes drive from the centre of Vilamoura, Almancil Karting is open all year round. The main kart track is a 760m length replica of a former Formula One Brazilian race track and they also offer fantastic, fun Buggy Safaris through the Algarve countryside.
Water Parks
There are a number of water parks in the area, the nearest being Atlantic Park (Parque Atlantico) near Almancil, which offers all sorts of twisting slides, even a ‘twin’ Kamikaze and the ‘Rio Grande’. There’s a deep diving pool for the brave, and a children’s pool which allows parents to relax while the very young enjoy themselves. During the peak season it provides a daily variety spectacular show.
